October 2013 Policy Briefing

Come to hear about the current advocacy efforts
of two of our amazing GirlGov alumni!

Sarah Pesi is currently a student at Chatham University.  Did you know that Pennsylvania is one of only 12 states that does not have a Restraining Order Law?  Sarah has been working for a number of years to pass a bill that she authored, giving stalking and harassment victims who DO NOT know their perputrator the same protections as those offered under our current Protection From Abuse laws.  Come hear Sarah's story, the status of her bill currently, and how YOU can help get it passed this legislative session!

Laila Al-Soulaiman is currently a student at the University of Pittsburgh.    Upon losing 15 family members during the Syrian civil war, Laila's mission is to bring awareness to the violence inflicted on Syrian civilians by a brutal government since violent conflict that has become a civil war erupted there in 2011.  Come to hear her perspective on the Syrian conflict, as an expatriate and young woman, and how she hopes you too can get involved.

WGF offices are located in the Landmarks Building, just upstairs from the Grand Concourse Restaurant.  We are easily accessed by public transportation. Parking is available throughout Station Square, but we recommend the East Parking Lot, adjacent to the Smithfield Street Bridge.  (The garage near the Sheraton is under construction and may only be available to leaseholders at the time of this event.)

This event is free to Leadership Circle donors and their guests.

For questions, please call 412-434-4883.
