Tell the FTC: Take Action on Airbnb

BACKGROUND: Around the country rents just seem to keep going up and it’s harder and harder to find an affordable place to live. Data shows that the use of short-term rental sites like Airbnb could be making the problem worse.

Cities are scrambling to make sure residents can find affordable places to live. But at the same time, sites like Airbnb are helping professional landlords turn rental units into de facto hotels. When cities pass laws to prevent this, all too often, companies like Airbnb refuse to share the data needed to enforce them.

Sharing homes shouldn’t have to mean soaring rents. Join us in calling on the FTC to act.
