Tell your officials: No Mobile Chernobyl, no "interim" radwaste storage

April 18, 2013

Yesterday, citizen activists from around the country attending the Alliance for Nuclear Accountability's DC Days event met with Congressmembers and officials to talk about radioactive waste and other nuclear issues. Thanks to everyone who called their officials in support!

Throughout the rest of April, you can still show your support by sending a letter to your Senators and Representative. Following up with phone calls is always helpful! Your Congressmembers' phone numbers will show up below--write down the numbers or call them before clicking send.

The message to them is simple: Oppose "consolidated interim storage" of radioactive waste. Prevent the large-scale, unnecessary and dangerous transport of high-level radioactive waste across the U.S. Stop a Mobile Chernobyl. No Fukushima Freeways. You can find more information on this issue on our website here.

Even if you know your Congressmembers are pro-nuclear, send your letters and express your opinion anyway! We're not going to win over everyone. But Congressmembers talk to each other, and they are attuned to public outrcries. Thousands of calls and letters can help convince even the most pro-nuclear Congressmembers that perhaps this is an issue they'd rather not have to vote on this year. We've won on this issue before in a pro-nuclear Congress, we can do it again.

Notes: You must have a U.S. address to participate in this action. You may edit the sample letter to reflect your own concerns--we encourage that! Please be sure to call your legislators or write down their phone numbers before you click send! And please share this action page on Facebook, Twitter, with your e-mail lists, etc. using the icons above before you click send.
