August, 21, 2014

Letters to the editor are a great way to spread the word about historic events like the upcoming People's Climate March on September 21, 2014 in New York City. Lots of people don't even know about the March yet--you'll help make them aware. Below is a sample letter. Please edit to reflect your personal views and local concerns. You can choose which newspapers in your area you want to send it to, and your letter will automatically be sent to those newspapers.

Please don't forget to add your name and location to the letter!

And let us know if your letter appears in the paper or online! Send us a note at nirsnet@nirs.org. Thank you!

Note: if you know your local newspaper will print website urls, please add this one to your letter so people can get more information: http://www.nirs.org/climatemarch/climatemarchhome.htm

Letter to the Editor

The Letter to the Editor Section is one of the most widely read sections of the newspaper and can reach a large audience. It allows community members to comment on the way issues are being addressed in the media and to influence the topics the local paper may choose to cover. Elected officials often monitor this section of the newspaper and take notice of constituents' opinions.

We've made it easy for you to contact your local newspaper with your views, but editors want to hear from you in your own words.
