Thanks for your leadership on paid sick days and the minimum wage!
The Committee on Business, Consumer, and Regulatory Affairs has the opportunity to pass one bill that strengthens DC's paid sick leave law to include tipped restaurant workers, to allow workers to begin accruing sick days on their first day of work, and to improve enforcement. Additionally, the bill would raise DC's minimum wage to $12.50 per hour, index it to inflation, and raise the tipped minimum wage to at least 70% of the minimum wage. We need the committee to pass this one combined bill now!
Please take a minute to sign this letter letting the committee know that you support BOTH of these urgent issues affecting DC's working families. Make a phone call to Chairman Vincent Orange letting him know that you support BOTH of these measures!
The Committee on Business, Consumer, and Regulatory Affairs is chaired by Councilmember Vincent Orange, and Councilmembers David Grosso, Jim Graham, Mary Cheh, and Yvette Alexander sit on the committee.
After you sign the letter, please call the offices of these councilmembers to let them know you support a strong, combined paid sick days and minimum wage bill.
