Did you hear the big news today?
This morning, State Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Huntington Park/Long Beach), chair of the Latino Legislative Caucus, announced he will introduce legislation to expand health coverage for all Californians, regardless of immigration status.
Together, we can make our vision for a stronger and healthier California a reality.
We look forward working with Senator Lara, a diverse coalition of health organizations and community partners, and you, in order to bring affordable and equitable access to care to every person in the Golden State.
These efforts come at a critical time in which discriminatory health policies have impacted many communities throughout California. Despite the millions eligible for health coverage through Covered California (the health insurance marketplace set in place by the Affordable Care Act) and the expansion of the Medi-Cal program, an estimated three to four million will be left without coverage. Over 1 million undocumented immigrants will be unfairly excluded from care.
After our victories last year on TRUST, Licenses, worker protections, and more, CIPC believes that the next step forward for California is to expand equitable and affordable access to health care. That will help all Californians, regardless of immigration status, to live, work, and thrive.

From our Executive Director, Reshma Shamasunder
"California is inaugurating a new era of immigrant inclusion with measures to reduce deportations, boost worker protections, and provide drivers licenses to all. The next common-sense step is to heal the injustice of exclusive health policies. It's time to invest in equitable access to health for all who are working hard to move the Golden State forward."
